The High School Research Teachers Conference brings 200 research teachers of all experience levels together to share best practices, troubleshoot challenges, and learn more about Society for Science & the Public and the Regeneron Science Talent Search. Society for Science was founded in 1921 by journalist Edward W. Scripps and zoologist William Emerson Ritter, under the name “Science Service”, with the goal of informing the public of the latest scientific discoveries and achievements.

Chapter 4 examines the views of AAAS scientists about the scientific enterprise, issues and concerns facing the scientific community, and issues for those newly entering careers in science. It also includes the experiences and background characteristics of the AAAS scientists in the survey. Appendices provide a detailed report on the methodology used in each survey as well as the full question wording and frequency results for each question in this report.
